My Journey

Hi i'm Beckiie I live in Leeds and want to share my gluten free finds with you all!

My journey started when I was around 17. From a young age I had Eczema and for years I just wished there was something that would make it go.

At around 17 I tired an elimination diet but I cut different food groups out at once, and wouldn't recommend doing it that way as it is not the correct way and it was not healthy to do it like that. As I cut a few food groups out and didn't replace it with anything else, I started to feel like I had absolutely no energy, felt like I wanted to pass out and the vision in my eyes felt like it was going side to side. So I cut out gluten, dairy, red meat and alcohol so I was pretty much living off chicken, fruit and veg. I found that my Eczema did clear a little so I went to the doctors to see if they would do allergy testing but I was told that it wouldn't work because my skin was too sensitive.. what a load of rubbish! My Grandma suggested I go private to someone who had more knowledge. I started to Google different doctors as I wanted to pick one who specialised in Eczema. I went to Spire Methley Park which is in Leeds and I can honestly say it was the best thing I ever did! They tested me by doing a blood test which I didn't even know you could do, I found out I am intolerant to wheat and nuts.

When I first started out the gluten free isle was so small and didn't have much at all, but 6 years later it has grown and there is some pretty good stuff out there now but I think we can all agree that some of the gluten free products are bloody expensive! Below is a before and after shot of just an area of what my Eczema looked like and how clear my skin is now.
